Greetings from the Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute!
We are excited to be a part of the outstanding 8th World Wilderness Congress program, once again hosting the Symposium on Science and Stewardship to Protect and Sustain Wilderness Values, which will meet the afternoons of October 3-5, following Congress plenary sessions in the morning.
The symposium program has been steadily building over the past year and currently includes 67 sessions within 11 theme areas. With over 300 oral and integrated poster presentations scheduled throughout the three afternoons, there will be countless opportunities for sharing information and networking with some of the world's foremost experts on wilderness and wildland related issues. Our presenters represent as many as 30 countries from around the world, making it a truly global event.
The program schedule is packed full of presentations highlighting a variety of subjects, for instance: Alaska wildland issues, community roles in wilderness management, defining ocean wilderness, biodiversity protection and restoration, wilderness education and training, therapeutic use of wilderness, and stewardship challenges in a changing environment -- just to name a few.
We're looking forward to another extraordinary Congress and hope to see you in Anchorage!
