Introduction

The Wild Planet Project (WPP) is an applied research initiative coordinated by The WILD Foundation for the 8th World Wilderness Congress (8th WWC) that will compile the state of the art information on wilderness, provide wilderness management training, and catalyze new wilderness designations.

The WPP has five theme areas:

  •  Wilderness Mapping
  • Designating Wilderness
  • Large Landscape Conservation
  • Managing Wilderness
  • Wilderness Benefits.

This symposium area will be composed of: numerous working sessions that meet during the planning period and during the convention of the 8th WWC.
