The Global Wilderness Forum consists of two days of plenary sessions featuring reports of global scope and importance, including announcements on WWC objectives and protected area outcomes from around the world, and evenings of world-class contemporary and traditional dance and music. Forum dates include September 30-October 1, 2005.
    
  Wilderness Working Sessions Only Registration

Attend only the World Wilderness Working Sessions October 2-6, 2005.  Wilderness Working Sessions are the next five days, with three major symposia programs: (1) Science and Stewardship to Protect and Sustain Wilderness Values; (2) The Wild Planet Project – Making the Case for Wilderness and People; and (3) Culture and Conservation: The Arts, Media and Advocacy. All delegates meet in plenary each morning to discuss and debate case studies, models and best practice presentations under all three symposia topics. Each afternoon, the three symposia host concurrent sessions, including technical panels and papers, training programs, workshops, and poster sessions. An “open council” ends each afternoon and offers all delegates the chance to share their experience and views. Evenings feature culture and entertainment from Alaska and around the world, including an environmental film festival, traditional dance, music, stories, and more.

  Global Wilderness Seminar for Government Agencies - 9/28/2005 and 9/29/2005
The goal of this seminar is to enhance wilderness stewardship globally by giving governmental managers an opportunity to meet in person to address their specific issues and challenges. The outcome will be an operating network of government professionals in natural resource management, committed to fostering best management and practices in wilderness, and to working effectively with non-governmental organizations also interested and engaged in protecting and sustaining wilderness.   International Wilderness Concepts and Practice - 9/25/2005 - 9/29/2005
This 5-day training course is conducted by the Wilderness Action Group of South Africa and the University of KwaZulu Natal, in association with The WILD Foundation, US Forest Service, and other collaborators. The course runs 25-29 September 2005, in Anchorage, and is accredited through the University of Montana.

  Conservation Photography - - 10/2/2005 through - 10/5/2005
Conservation Photography – Images with Passion and Purpose will be an integral part of the 8th WWC’s focus on “Art and Advocacy,” highlighting all forms of visual and written conservation communications. This session begins on 2 October, then continues during the Wilderness Working Sessions, with a historical overview of the achievements of conservation photographers, and presentations on conservation photography projects currently underway both in Alaska and in the rest of the world. This seminar will continue during lunch and afternoon of 3-4-5 October. All participants must be fully registered 8WWC delegates. (more...)
